| Description: | Villa Balda is a beautiful 70-square-meter (about 753 square feet) house which sleeps four people. It has an enthralling view of the sea and Positano and it features a large terrace as well. In its interior you will have two double bedrooms with air-conditioning, each with its own en-suite bathroom. And there is also a living-room with a kitchenette. Please note that one of the bedrooms is not connected to the rest of the house. To go to the living room from this bedroom (and back) you need to step out to the patio. Villa Balda is part of an old house in Positano which dates back to the eighteenth century. The house is located in the oldest and most typical area of Positano, consisting of white houses separated one from another by narrow streets and stairways and embellished by terraces rich in flowers and white masonry arches. Here the houses are built as if they were attached to the steep rocky coast. They all face the sun and the sea, forming that picturesque cluster of houses which render Positano so unmistakable! You will be halfway between the beach and the state coastal road in a great and convenient position to reach either on foot or by bus either of the places. The entrance is just a few feet away from the road, and you can reach it after climbing a 45-step stairway. You can easily reach the shops and the bus stop on foot. Moreover, you can park your car only 100 meters (about 328 feet) away from the house in a pay parking lot. The road below the villa is a one-way street run only by local cars and shuttles which take people from the lower to the upper part of Positano, which means from the beach and the pedestrian and shopping streets below to the national road up above. The elegant shopping streets and the beach can be easily reached as all you have to do is descend some pedestrian shortcuts. Taking the old scalinatelle (public narrow streets actually consisting of stairways) of Positano is something not to be missed if your legs allow you to do so! By going through these narrow stairways, besides seeing all the tourist-visited places, you will be able to unveil enthralling angles of Positano. And then, once you have reached the lower part of the town on foot, you can always go up again by bus! You will enter Villa Balda through a large gate painted in green and framed by a grey stone arch which bears an ancient coat of arms on the top. You will soon find a covered patio where you will see the entrance door to the bedrooms and living-room. Both bedrooms are spacious and furnished with a double bed, and they also feature their own bathroom with shower inside. In each bedroom you will also have a mini-bar, air conditioning and a television. One of the bedrooms has access to a small private terrace with a splendid sea view. Even on this terrace you will have a table, chairs, and deck chairs. The second bedroom has a patio door leading to the main terrace. Through this patio door you can see the sea. You can reach the living-room either from the latter bedroom or from the patio. In the living-room you will have a dining area with a table and chairs, and also a spacious and well-equipped kitchenette. The kitchenette is equipped with a four-burner stove, an oven, a fridge, and a dishwasher. You will find that the interiors of Villa Balda are spacious, cozy, and elegantly furnished. From Villa Balda you can either walk or take the local shuttle to the shopping streets of Positano and the famous Spiaggia Grande (Large Beach). On foot, by descending 300 steps from Villa Balda, you can reach the enthralling beach of Fornillo, one of the most beautiful angles of Positano, where you will have sandy beaches. During spring/summer, you can even rent umbrellas and deck chairs. While staying at Villa Balda you will be in an elegant and tranquil location. It is a convenient position from which to visit Sorrento and its coast as well as the Amalfi Coast. You can participate in the intense tourist life of Positano with its meeting places, shopping streets and restaurants. From the quay of Positano you will be able to board ferries and mini-cruises day and night to visit the coast, the islands of Capri and Ischia, Amalfi, Sorrento, Naples, Paestum, and the coast of the National Park of Cilento. In Positano, you can practice water and underwater sports. The SITA buses link together the villages along the coast, and it is easy to reach Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Paestum and the Royal Palace of Caserta. From Villa Balda, those who like hiking and climbing will be able to easily reach the famous trail along the ridge of the mountains that overlook the Amalfi Coast. For its extraordinary beauty, made of precipices and breathtaking views, the trail is called Sentiero degli Dei: Path of the Gods. The closest airport is in Naples (60 km). | ||||
